In the Edmonton Capital Region, 400,00 people lack the literacy skills to function in everyday life. Due to reading difficulties, thousands of Edmontonians have trouble: understanding their prescriptions, helping their children with homework, filling out job applications, understanding banking and credit statements or qualifying for apprenticeship training.
